Trustees and Committee Advisers wanted by St Wilfrid’s

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is looking for people to join its Board as Charity Trustees and/or committee advisers.

St Wilfrid’s is the local hospice serving the communities of Bognor Regis, the Selsey / Witterings peninsula, Arundel, Midhurst, and Chichester.  The hospice building is based in Bosham, however the majority of our care happens in people’s homes.  It is very likely that we have supported the friends, family, colleagues, and clients / customers of the business people and businesses who are members of the Chamber.

Our website is full of information about our care and services:  St Wilfrid’s Hospice: Palliative Care Chichester, West Sussex (stwh.co.uk)

We are particularly looking for people who live or work in the east and south of our patch, which is currently under-represented amongst our Trustees.  However we would love to hear from anyone interested in joining our Board who has a background or expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Business / commerce
  • Estates / facilities
  • Human Resources / organisational development

We are also looking for someone with a professional clinical background, including Allied Health Professionals.

Our Trustees have all the usual responsibilities set out in law – there’s a helpful guide to the role of Trustee on the Charity Commission website:  Charity trustee: what’s involved (CC3a) – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The Board of Trustees meets formally four times each year, plus twice at informal development days.  Trustees are generally also members of one or more of the Board’s committees, which meet quarterly.

A copy of our Trustee handbook is attached to this email to provide other information about how our Trustees work with the Senior Management Team to deliver our services.

The Committee Adviser role is similar to the Trustee role, but does not come with the legal obligations of full Trusteeship.  It’s often a chance for individuals to get to know us and prepare for Trusteeship at a later date.

We would love to welcome anyone interested in a role on our Board to the Hospice for a tour and a discussion.  Interested applicants should contact me, preferably by email, in the first instance.
